We're looking for an energetic, solution-oriented, hands-on, Direct Mail Production Manager to join our team. The person will possess the knowledge, understanding and proficiency that spans across all aspects of direct mail, including printing, lettershop operations, and the USPS DMM. Our ideal candidate is someone who has a commanding knowledge of the direct mail industry, is detail oriented, and superior communication skills.

The Direct Mail Production Manager will oversee the Mail Data team and the Mail Production Team.  (3-8 direct reports depending on the time of year)

Manage a high volume of complex projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Process / import / cleanse customer data files in varying formats such as Excel, CSV, Comma Delimited using the required mailing software
  • Receive mailing list(s) from customer and preflight to check for usability
  • Inspect, format and correct (if necessary) customer provided mailing lists, by identifying and removing duplicate records and records with a low chance of USPS deliverability
  • Presort customer-approved final mailing list using to obtain discounted mailing rates, prepare documentation for the Post Office
  • Merge/purge and de-dup customer files when requested
  • Generate printer output to cut sheet, continuous and inkjet printers
  • Perform quality checks and control, code review and standard data validation practices prior to production release
  • Approve all print production priorities throughout the creative process, including final approval on all artwork, formats, mock-ups and proofs.
  • Submit print estimates to include creative scope, variable data programming and print specifications.
  • Develop and maintain schedules, ensuring that project milestones are met, adhering to approved budgets.
  • Analyze specifications to ensure that all job requirements, quality expectations, artwork availability and delivery dates are clearly identified and achieved.
  • Produce and distribute Purchase Orders with complete specifications and instructions.
  • Attend production, status and project meetings for assigned accounts.
  • Review printed samples for accuracy of color, quality, registration and scope.


  • 5+ years of direct mail experience in an agency/print manufacturing environment, including knowledge of offset printing (sheet-fed), inline finishing operations; litho, flexo and digital printing processes.
  • 5+ years of mailing services experience, including lettershop services, postal operations, and mail logistics.
  • Process customer data files for postal qualification, including CASS, NCOA and presort
  • Extensive pre-press and printing knowledge, including variable data printing.
  • Expertise in MS Office and the ability to review files via Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent time management and troubleshooting skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills.
